Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE)

Our CAE Exam Preparation classes focus on the grammar, vocabulary and exam techniques you will need for the Cambridge C1 Advanced exam. Learn how to avoid common errors and use the strategies to help you get the best mark.

We have full-time and part-time options and you can start on any week. You should have a good upper-intermediate level to start preparing for the exam.

Course Information

We have three ways to prepare to take CAE at Alba English

  • Super-Intensive CAE Course (23h / week)
    • Study General English, Monday – Friday mornings to improve your overall English level (max 12 students), plus small group afternoon classes Monday – Thursday focused on CAE exam preparation (1h25 per day, max 4 students)
  • Intensive CAE Course (20h / week)
    • Study General English, Monday – Friday mornings to improve your overall English level (max 12 students), plus evening CAE classes on Mondays and Wednesdays focused on CAE exam preparation (max 12 students)
  • Part-Time CAE Evening Classes (3h20 / week)
    • Evening CAE classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays focused on CAE exam preparation (max 12 students)

Note that if you are the only student registered for a Beginner (A1), Elementary (A2) or Advanced (C1) course, or any evening course, we may replace your 100-minute group class with a 60-minute 1:1 class and 40 minutes of structured self-study.

Exam Information

In Edinburgh, the exams are administered by Basil Paterson College. Click here for dates, prices (2021, £160) and contact details.
 
The last entry date is six weeks before the exam and sometimes there are 8 weeks between exams. Therefore, you might need to wait for up to 14 weeks before you can take the exam. You are advised to book as soon as possible.
