What is a random fact about you?

I was a press officer in broadcasting for many years before training to become a teacher ten years ago.

Where and what have you studied?

Edinburgh Uni. English Literature.

Why do you like being an English teacher?

Learning a language is both fun and useful and helps give you a better view of the world. English is particularly important in today’s world as it is the main language of communication. Seeing students gain confidence and improve their language skills, in addition of getting to know them, is one of the main pleasures of being an English teacher.

What do you like about Edinburgh?

The cosmopolitan vibe and the juxtaposition of old and new.

What do you like about Alba English School?

The friendliness of both staff and students.

What do you do in your free time?

I try to pack in as much as I can and that includes meeting friends over food and wine, going to the cinema, skiing and walking in the Scottish Highlands.

If you could live in a book, TV show or movie, what would it be?

Lord of the Rings.

If you could take only three items with you to a deserted island, what would they be?

A pen, some paper and my smartphone.

If you could have dinner with a famous person (dead or alive), who would it be and why?

The comedian Eddie Izzard – because he’s not just highly intelligent and articulate but also extremely funny. Plus he speaks three languages fluently!

What’s your favourite place in Edinburgh?

Blackford Pond.
